Pros:
  • Water and fire proof
  • Spacious
Cons:
  • No standard way to mount to floor or wall
  • Waterproof seal causes interior moisture

The First Alert Waterproof Fire Safe is a durable safe made from a strong resin material. To keep the door locked in place it features four solid-steel bolts and pry-resistant hinges making it near impossible for any burglar to pry open. The First Alert Waterproof Fire Safe has exterior dimensions of 24.13 by 17.63 by 23.38 inches and the interior dimensions are 19.69 by 13.50 by 13.88 inches give the safe a volume of 2.1 cubic feet. To transport the safe it features both a handle and wheels which can obviously be removed once you got it where you want it. The safe locks using an electronic keypad lock, which is simple to set and operate, in combination with a key. The keypad features a back light to easily read it in the dark, two sets of keys are included and LED lights guide you through the steps. For extra security the keypad locks itself completely if a wrong code is entered 3 times. A third emergency override key is included as well which grants you entry into the safe if the keypad is out of battery or if too many wrong entry attempts have locked the keypad. The keypad uses 4 AA batteries which are included in the box.

Besides providing your valuables protection from burglars, the First Alert Waterproof Fire Safe also protects them from fire and water damage. Underwriters Laboratories has tested and confirmed the safe to be resistant to external fire up to 1700 degrees for an hour, maintaining an internal temperature of 350F for the whole hour. Digital storage devices such as USB drives and CDs are also protected in your safe during a fire. The waterproof seal featured in the First Alert Waterproof Fire Safe also keeps the valuables within your safe protected from water damage. The safe will also float during a flood making it easy to spot and protecting the valuables inside. The seal does result in moisture forming within the safe so First Alert recommends you air it or keep some anti humidity pads inside. The inside of the safe itself is quite roomy, giving you more than enough space for your general valuables. Documents, cash, jewelry, watches, handguns, ammunition, and even small electronics should all fit in your safe. It features two adjustable and removable shelves which allows you to store items with varying heights and removing the shelves altogether allows bulk storage. The safe door also allows some storage on a featured key rack and in the door pocket.

I can highly recommend the First Alert Waterproof Fire Safe to anyone for a number of reasons. First and foremost, it is a sturdy safe that will protect your valuables from burglars, fire and water. Secondly, First Alert is a well known brand with quality customer service that can help you if you ever lose the keys or forget the combination. Lastly, the safe is affordable which is great because you still want to have some valuables left to put in the safe.

In the past I was not a stickler for security but ever since I was a victim of theft I became interested in protecting my valuables. Since then I have spend a lot of time researching the options that are available and what kind of security the offer. I also enjoy collection firearms and you do not, however, need to tell me twice about gun safety! Keep your guns out of reach of those who do not know how to use them, lives depend on it!
